Tesla is preparing to launch a new version of its best-selling electric SUV, the Model Y, called the ‘Project Juniper’. This update is expected to slightly refresh the exterior design, make the cabin more premium and add new tech features. This is aimed at keeping the Model Y competitive and bringing it at par with other updated models from Tesla such as the Model 3 ‘Highland’. With the Juniper update, Tesla wants to show that it is committed to constantly improving its vehicles and coping with growing demand as well as increasing competition. So it is ready to enter in Indian EV car market by the name of Tesla Model Y Juniper.

Tesla Model Y (Juniper) launched in India

Tesla Model Y has launched in India on 15 July,2025. The Juniper version of the Tesla Model Y which has launched in India, in which we get very thin lights and connected tail lights at the rear. It will be quite competitive in the Indian market because its basic version will have a 59 kW battery and the top model will have an 80 kW battery. This means that this car can go from 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds. Tesla’s battery management is very good.

Price of Tesla Model Y Juniper in India

Tesla has officially confirmed the price of Model Y (juniper) in India ₹57 to₹ 60 lakh Indian Rupees. Globally tesla model y sold around $45,000.

Performance and Driving Tesla Model Y

Tesla claims their new suspension and steering is completely retuned for more comfort instead of pure performance, similar to model 3 refresh.

Juniper absorbed the bumps and path holes very well as compared to previous generation without sacrificing handling. The new suspension is a way more composed. The newmodel y is a way quitter at 71 mph, it was just 71 dB, whereas the old one, a noisy 79dB.

A lot of people complain about the range estimate in the old model Y wasn’t as good. There are lots of factors like wind resistance, the type of tyres we have on. New model Y range was actually better than predicted.

The new Model Y on driving, handling, comfort is mind blowing. It is so much than the previous generation.

Front Profile

There is all new front bumper. The new lightbar is split up into 3 pieces, but it not as bright as the Tesla cybertruck light bar.

And at the bottom Juniper have super bright matrix LED with a huge bulb. No fog light needed because main headlight light has good brightness. It looks great. And with the new model Y refresh, we get a front facing camera with washer. So overall the front is nice.

Rear Profile

Now we move on to the back of the model Y. There is a Tesla branding below connected tail light. There’s a one piece light bar which diffuses downwards and looks super legit when you have that with the updated tail lights with that model & style design. It looks so good.

Interior

Silent cabin with Noise absorbing Fabric

lets move on to the interior where there’s so many changes compared to the old model Y. Coming into the new model Y, it’s completely different. There is again it is very simple, it’s still super clean and elegant. There’s cloth fabric everywhere and they did that on purpose to absorb noise. We get a nice metal speaker grill, RGB wraparound lightning, dual pane glass front & rear as well as much better seals, so when we close the doors, it just sounds more premium. We get a turn signal stock in new model Y and it feels great. There is a premium steering with control button.

Like Tesla model X and S & model 3 refresh, there’s no gear stocks. Its all done on the screen. we put seatbelt on. It says tap to activate drive. You go into drive

Convenient & Automatic Parking

To park, we need to push that button. Also there have a new feature where if we are in reverse, we just have to turn the steering wheel, stop, it will automatically go into drive for us.

And one thing a lot of people don’t know is once we were drive, and this is super useful, especially if we don’t have gear stock, to quickly go into park, instead button. Just take out seat belt. But one huge thing that separates this model Y from the old model Y is cabin temperature and sitting comfort. New model has the new glass roof. They redid the tint. It’s supposed to eject even more heat. In new model Y the roof tint is so much better than the old one.

Something special with the new model Y, we also feel a hand free trunk that opens automatically. There are two motors instead of one open or closes better. Nothing shakes, nothing rattles. Overall it’s a much more secure vehicle. But another supercool thing is the automatic seat goes forward so that this can lower completely down and then it goes back. It senses an object on the seat. In this car sound damping is insane. In the second row we get more headroom over here. It has the ability to recline the seats automatically with a button. We also get a nice second row screen.

Missing Features In Tesla Model Y

There’s a couple key features that the tesla new model Y missed on and it could have been a great opportunity for Tesla. For ex. we wish tesla added just a few more features like a 12volt outlet in the cybertruck & some other EV’s but the model Y only have a USB type-c port and cigarette outlet. There are lots of cameras in tesla model Y but still don’t have 360 view panoramic monitor in the car.

Tesla model Y have like a 360 visualize a cartoon visualization, but it would have been nice to have actual images, actual video of a 360 view may be even like a curb rash alert detection system so you don’t curb your wheels.

Range – New Tesla model Y have 327miles range and 357 miles with rear wheel drive (RWD).

Unique Features – There’s a couple of unique menu changes that’s only available in the new Tesla Model Y. Go ahead dynamics there we can see they have a new option, deacceleration reducer standard.

They have this new traction control modes as well as, they also have a new oscillation feature, moves the air vents automatically which is supercool. And it also give the cell phone charging holder super lo again like before.

So overall, the tech on this new model Y is super cool.

Value of New Tesla Model Y (Juniper)

The new model Y build quality compared to the old model y, so much better seal panel, gaps are good, paint quality is amazing. There is a 50,000 miles warranty for 4 years which is really good.

Tesla is not a luxury brand, but some models like S and X are considered luxury price. That’s not luxury though if we compare it to competitors. But considering now this model Y starts at $49000 with 327 miles and they just released the RWD model Y 357 miles for $45,000. Comparing it to one of its competitor, the Kia EV6 that starts at $43,000 with only 237 miles or even AWD Chevy Equinox LT1 $40,000 with 307 miles with all the tech and features of Juniper.
