Kia Carrens Clavis EV India’s First Mass-Market Electric Car Has Launched

Kia India is now going to make its strong presence felt in the affordable electric vehicle segment. For this, the company is going to launch the Kia Carrens Clavis Ev in the third quarter of 2025. This model will be Kia’s first big step into the mainstream EV market in India.

The design of the Kia Carens Clavis EV is largely similar to the petrol and diesel models, with just a few EV-specific changes that distinguish it as an electric model. Kia has shared teasers ahead of the official launch on July 15, revealing that it will slightly change the styling elements compared to the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) variant, which has already been on sale since May 23.

Front Design of Kia Carrens Clavis EV

From the front it looks very beautiful, both the EV and ICE variants look almost identical. They get three-pod LED headlamps with triangular housing, sharp LED daytime running lights and pixel-style fog lamps. Both versions have a closed grille, but in the EV version, Kia has integrated the charging port inside this grille to make charging easier.

The side profile will also retain the same design. Details like pull-type door handles, roof rails, silver inserts with black cladding on the wheel arches and lower portion of the doors, and body-colored ORVMs will remain.  The EV will have one significant change — new aerodynamic alloy wheels, which will help deliver better efficiency.

The teaser doesn’t fully show the rear design, but the EV is expected to get minor badging changes and the connected LED taillights will remain the same. The ICE version comes in eight colors, while the EV may get a couple of new colors added to differentiate it.

Inside the cabin, both versions will have the same seven-seater layout and overall design. The EV version will get a new black and white dual-tone theme, which will give a more premium look than the ICE model which has a navy and beige theme. The same dual-tone theme is also available in some lower variants of the ICE version.

The center console of the Kia Carrens Clavis Ev has also been redesigned. The absence of a traditional gear lever has given it more storage space and a sliding tray. They will keep most of the cabin features the same as the ICE version, but they may also add some exclusive EV features.

Expected Key Features 

The Carens Clavis EV will get almost all the features of the ICE model, like dual 12.3-inch screens (one for infotainment and the other for driver display), panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charger and automatic climate control. Apart from this, extra features like powered front seats and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging can also be provided.

The Clavis EV will also be well-equipped in terms of safety. It is likely to include features like six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning, 360degree camera.

According to Kia’s teaser, the Carens Clavis EV will be powered by a 51.4 kWh battery that will offer an MIDC certified range of 490 km.
